Your NAA Membership

As a member of AACSC, you are automatically a member of both the National Multi- Housing Council and the National Apartment Association. Although these organizations primarily protect your interests in Washington D.C., and lobby on the federal level to protect your private property rights, many other fabulous benefits come to you as a result of these memberships. Some other NAA programs and benefits are listed below.

With the help of NAA we recently presented a fabulous Legislative Day in Sacramento and we also are forming a coalition of strong, independent regional apartment associations to improve lobbying opportunities in Sacramento. This coalition---the Golden State Housing Providers---is comprised of AACSC, Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles, Apartment Association of Orange County, San Diego Apartment Association, Northern Alameda County Housing Providers and San Joaquin County Rental Property Association. There are 17,000 members in Golden State; 20 percent more than CAA.

NAA Files Amicus Brief

NAA has filed an amicus (friend of the court) brief asking the U.S. Supreme Court to grant review of a ruling in the case of Guggenheim v. City of Goleta, CA. This is an important case for the apartment industry, addressing whether cities should compensate property owners who are impacted by rent control. NAA files amicus briefs on behalf of our members and encourages you to contact AACSC if your company is involved in a case at the appellate level. AACSC is contributing funds to the amicus brief (see more information on page 29).
